About Me

I’ve been a professional illustrator, web developer, web designer, and graphic designer for over 20 years. My love for art began at an early age, but really took off when my class watched The Hobbit (Rankin/Bass version) in 3rd grade. My next milestone was when I was shown Uncanny X-men #277 by a friend in seventh grade. I played (or thought about playing) DnD throughout most of my childhood, and dedicated a lot of time to drawing a LOT of characters I made or played with. I’ve also always had an interest in all kinds of cartoons, from older stuff (i.e. GI Joe, Voltron, Thunder Cats, etc.) to more modern shows like Gravity Falls, Teen Titans Go, Regular Show, etc. My artistic interests have been pretty eclectically split between these three genres for most of my life.

My major influences growing up were/are Jim Lee, Todd McFarlane, Greg Capullo, Joe Madureira, Jeff Elmore and Keith Parkinson. More recent influences include Skottie Young, Joe Benitez, Mitch Gerads, Loish, Tony DiTerlizzi, Mahmud Asrar, Stuart Immonen, Jock, and Sean Gordon Murphy. There are countless others, but those are the headliners.

I’ve also dabbled in woodworking throughout the years, and have more recently translated that interest and experience into crafting custom wands. Carshawen Wand Company opened up shop in 2011 and has been slowly growing since its inception. Turning and/or carving wands has become as enjoyable to me as drawing, and affords me the opportunity to create in different ways. But ultimately, creating is creating, so it scratches the same itch. 🙂
